Family Pictures

Last week I told my mom that we were having family pictures with the Cranneys. My mom with sympathy simply said "Oh, family pictures are always so stressful." When she said this, all the years past of "your shirt doesn't match" "move over that way" "stop making faces Joseph! . . . Andrew!" "Mom, we can't have family pictures I'm 9 months pregnant" came back to my mind.

A few examples from the Donaldson's last attempt (this was right before I started dating Stephen):

and then again at our wedding:

But much to my surprise the Cranney pictures were practically painless. After the short photo shoot 30 feet from their house, there were a dozen great pictures similar to the one below. The few ruined pictures were the ADHD and awkward poses of Christian and mine. I guess some things don't change even with a changed last name.

ok, I admit to being the one complaining about being pregnant in all the family pictures, but really, the last two family pictures, I have been at least eight months pregnant - what kind of timing is that? ;) At least in the wedding one, I was three months post baby.

I like the Cranney family picture, very cute although you look a little emaciated. Doesn't Stephen feed you? Don't label little Christian as ADD just because he's a sweet lil' baby- consider yourself blessed.

very impressive to get that good a pic with that many people. i love the color scheme too--just the right amount of matchiness if you ask me!

Rachel, very nice post and Cranney family picture is beautiful. I love the colors! Christian and his cousins are so close in age. That is adorable!

I know we are SO bad. I think I'm the worst with my super cheesy fake smile. My kids are the same way, which is why I have never been able to bring myself to pay for professional pictures. By the way, you look a lot like grammy V in the first one.
